New Year... New You?
Nearly everyone makes New Year’s resolutions. For those of you who don’t know, a New Year’s resolution is a list of the things that you wanted to accomplish last year but didn’t. Don’t fret. You’re not alone. According to a recent article by US News & World Report, 80% of the resolutions made on January 1st are abandoned by the 2nd week of February. In fact, only about 8% of people will actually succeed in keeping any of their New Year’s resolutions.
Our good intentions soon fall by the wayside as real life intervenes. Our job, family, and life soon crowd out all of the thoughts we had of losing weight, eating healthier, finding a better job or saving more money. And this makes next year’s resolutions so much easier to come up with. We just cross out the year on this year’s list and do it all over again next year! And the year after that. And the year after that. You get the picture.
How can you break the cycle of abandoned resolutions year after year? It doesn’t just happen. If it did, more people would keep their resolutions. To break the cycle and actually keep some of your resolutions this year requires a plan. A well thought out plan. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have a plan. We have a resolution but no plan to accomplish the goal(s) we have set.
Do you really want to accomplish the resolutions you have made this year? If you’re one of the people who has tried and failed many times over to keep your New Year’s resolutions, I have good news. It can be done! Here’s the secret: hire a coach.
It’s that simple. A coach can help you do things that you haven’t been able to do on your own. Tried to lose weight for the last 3 (or 6 or 10) years? A coach can help you reach your weight goal. Want to work out more? Let a coach help you find the balance between working out and working. Want to save more money this year? Find a coach who will help you put more of your hard earned money to work for you!
A coach will help you sort out your goals and determine what you are really after. A coach will help you work smarter, not harder to achieve the goals you want to reach. A coach will help you find balance in your life and reach even higher than you thought possible.
If you’ve been having trouble keeping your New Year’s resolutions, do something different this year. Do something for yourself. Hire a coach and become one of the few people who can say that they accomplished what they set out to accomplish this year. You can even take the credit for it. After all, no one need know that you had any help!
